Dear Audrey,
I'm a single mom of teens, employed but at minimum wage. Seems I'm always stressed out.
Your emotional healing and meditation pages have really interested me. I think maybe meditation is something that I could really benefit from.
My question may sound stupid but I read your base chakra meditation and wondered how I can meditate and read at the same time. How can I read if my eyes are closed and how can I meditate if my eyes are open?

Dear Stressed Mom,
First of all the only stupid question is one that is not asked. :-)
Your question is a good one.
A couple of thoughts come to mind but I think that I will suggest the first one that occurred to me. I wonder if you own a tape recorder or perhaps if you don't you may be able to borrow one from a friend or maybe your local library.
Print out the meditation, and then record the words on to a cassette tape. This way you will be able to close your eyes when you meditate and listen to the sound of your own voice affirming your true self.
There is nothing more reasssuring or comforting than listening to your own voice......this will heighten the power of the meditation experience and make it more meaningful for you.
I know you are feeling financially pressured but if you are able to fit it into your budget I would suggest that there is a wide selection of meditation tapes available. None of them though will benefit you as much as the sound of your own voice. If you can find the time you will find it beneficial to write and record your own affirmative meditation; no one knows better than you which issues would be best addressed in your meditation.
