Shirley Green, "Raven Spirit"
ON MENTAL PAIN

The pain, insane; yet I remain
with tearstained face within this place,
this world of pain they cannot tame.

I am inside - alive, alive
inside this shell I walk beside,
As further into fear I slide
there is no love of self, or pride.

I cannot see, I do not hear
the world around me, pressing near.
My mind in its forgotten place
ignoring times relentless pace.
